San Diego Tbirds Join Mustangs by the Bay for an All Ford Day
The Mustang Club of San Diego welcomed the Classic Thunderbirds of San Diego with open arms this past Sunday to their mostly Mustang and Ford car show at Embarcadero Marina Park North. This is one of San Diego’s premier car show locations, on the grass on a peninsula that juts out from the popular Sea Port Village, so not only are their car fans, there are tourists from all over the world, families, and kids enjoying the show. We were told there were more than 350 cars at this show.
A little Tbird TLC before the crowds
We had 10 Thunderbirds from our club, plus a couple more (who we encouraged to join!), and a few members without Tbirds lined up along the bay. The gracious organizer, Dennis, suggested we meet before the show and drive in together, so that we could park together, so we met at the Star of India at 730AM, which was a gorgeous location all by itself. In fact, a photographer for the area asked for our contact information because he wants to include us on future events. Yay!
Dennis also sponsored a hefty trophy specific to the Tbird flock, which was extremely kind of him. THREE CTSD members received award recognition: Shelly for her 55 Tbird, Dave for his 62 Tbird, and Jim for his 32 Ford “Texaco” tow truck. That’s a lot of awards for such a big show! Congratulations to all, with so much appreciation to all the other members who participated (and helped us gain some visibility): Dave, Fred and Pat, Mitch, Jeff, Geoff, Ed, and Alvin and Stacy, as well as members who brought smiles but no Birds this time, Tom and Maria (can’t wait to see their 59 Thunderbird) and Ray!
We also met a few new people who have Thunderbirds in San Diego getting some finishing touches completed at the garage, and they were interested in joining us, which would be fantastic. We welcome new members for 2026!
Here are the photos from the day. Enjoy and see you at the Thunderbird Member Picnic October 25 (details by email).
