5 Tbirds Join the 73rd Annual 4th of July Parade in Coronado

The Classic Thunderbirds of San Diego were invited to join the longest standing 4th of July parade in San Diego once again this year! We had five Thunderbirds represent the club: one 1955 black, three 1956s (gray, red, and yellow), and one bronze 1957.

We all arrived at the staging area in Coronado at 8:30 AM. David brought doughnuts and we all caught up and provided tips on how not to overhead during the two-hour parade down Orange Ave. By 10:30 AM, we were rolling in the 53rd group.

We heard lots of calling out “beautiful car!” and “what year?” and “292?” The kids liked to see themselves in the hubcaps.

You can watch the whole parade on YouTube. We are at the 1:26 mark. Also, you can read about the parade in general in the Union Tribune.

Thanks to David, Bill, Craig, Marty, Max, Sandy, Alvin, Shelly and Gary for donating their time and contributing to the celebration!
