18th Annual Tbird Toy Drive for Tots a Big Success

The Classic Thunderbirds of San Diego held their 18th toy drive and car club get together at Mission Bay to support Toys for Tots.

It’s our annual tradition! It was a lovely day and a lovely turnout of people, cars, and toy donations. Our sincere appreciation goes out to everyone who helped support this event.

David Durrill, former long-standing CTSD president and current board member, has been organizing a Tbird “Cars and Coffee” type meetup in San Diego for years now, and the latest one was a huge success, despite a forecast of potential rain.

Several Thunderbirds, a Lotus, and even more Tbird fans turned up at Mission Bay to view the classic cars and donate new, unwrapped toys for the charitable event. All toys were delivered to the Marine Toys for Tots program at the Bay Park Fire Department to distribute to children in need. Apparently, they were super impressed by the quantity of toys donated. Yay!

The Classic Thunderbirds of San Diego is not only dedicated to the preservation and celebration of classic Thunderbirds, but we also often support community events like this one. All Thunderbird enthusiasts (regardless of car ownership status) are welcome to join the club. 2024 membership enrollment is now open.

THANK YOU, CAR PEOPLE!

Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a great success, including Bill G, Jeff L, Mark, and Dave for the early KUSI promotion, Jeff L again for giving us a head start by hitting up all his friends for toy donations in advance, Gary A for the flyer, Dave D for organizing us all, Mitch and Elaine for bringing the coffee, Erika and Kirk for the photos, and all the support from Bob and Donna, Craig and Max, Bill S, Don, Pam, Shelly, Geoff, Dave B, Joe and Susan from the Early Ford V8 Club, and I’m sure we’re missing names, but we thank you, too! The people in this car club are a generous and lovely bunch of people. Thanks to you all.
